Title: the blood of Christ
Post by torporchair on Jun 5th, 2008, 5:26pm
I got to say, a lot of people do a lot of good things with the church as the organizational organ. My family's church does meals on wheels, houses homeless, and provides walkers and other durable medical goods to needing people. If that's called Christianity, I'm all for it, and apologize for the flippant things I say about religion.

In fact, if Christ was the name for the organizing force in the universe, I'd call myself a Christian, especially since Christ is, in my opinion, a very righteous dude.

But the reason I can't make things simpler in my life and just go with the flow and say I'm a Christian like the majority is that the Blood of Christ is supposed to personally wash away My Sins.

The blood of this great man is supposed to somehow save me from the worser side of my nature. And that blood, which coagulated and became inert a couple thousand years ago, is supposed to Wash me. I find this to be just a bridge too far. Otherwise I might go for it. Why not?

Respect is more important than difference of opinion on something as far-out as 2,000 year old blood washing my soul, so I choose to respect the Christian faith and will try and stop writing so flippantly about the faith.

Same goes for all the world's religions.

You either is or ain't a good dewd, in my mind.  If you need an external force to make you a good person, perhaps you are not really a good person after all.  There are people who do good things independant of religion, so I don't think it is required.  Still, if religions motivate people to be good, good for them!
